A MEMBER of the South African Police Service rapes a woman on average every two-and-a-half days, according to the Institute of Security Studies. A study by the institute found poor police work in rape cases, including dockets disappearing, and evidence being missed or ignored. The study found that police are understaffed and poorly trained, while court procedures are inefficient.
