FREEZING cold weather is expected to last a few days after snow fell in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Swaziland and Lesotho on Tuesday, the weather bureau said. Bureau spokesman Peter Pretorius said although the cold front has passed, it will still take a few days before it started warming up again. Pretorius said the front was a bit late in the year, but that it often happens. He explained that the winter weather system stayed far south this year keeping temperatures relatively warm. He said most parts of Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal, especially the Vrede and Drakensberg areas, were covered in snow on Monday night and Tuesday. The roads in most parts of Swaziland had to be closed on Tuesday afternoon with the access road from Mbabane to the Malutha border in Mpumalanga, also closed.
