EGYPTIAN President Hosni Mubarak has decided to take a rest after surviving an armed attack, cancelling a visit to Libya to attend an Organization of African Unity summit. Mubarak, who escaped with a light wound when a man armed with caustic soda and a sharp instrument attacked him on Monday, had planned to travel to Libya on Wednesday and return the same day. Bodyguards shot and killed the assailant. The president is currently in the Red Sea beach resort of Sharm el-Sheikh where Jordan’s King Abdullah II is due to pay him a visit later on Tuesday to check on his health. The OAU summit, attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Mussa, is being held in the Libyan coastal town of Sirte.
