PAGAD MEMBER ARRESTED FOR MURDER

A MEMBER of People against Gangsterism and Drugs was arrested on Wednesday for the murder of Farouk Jaffer, a founder member of Pagad who later broke all ties with the organisation. Western Cape police commissioner Leon Wessels said a team of detectives under the command of director Leonard Knipe arrested the man at his Athlone house in the early hours of Wednesday. Jaffer was shot dead in his bakkie about two blocks from his Cape Flats home two months ago. The arrested man is under investigation in other cases of urban terror and is out on bail. He will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
