NATIONAL swimming team skipper, Brendon Dedekind, has been named South Africa’s captain at the All Africa Games that gets underway in Johannesburg this week. Dedekind, who won the 50m freestyle gold medal at the Pan Pacific Games in Sydney, said the announcement at a gala dinner at Esselen Park on Tuesday night has come a big surprise. “I am very, very honoured to be elected captain.” He said the South African team is going to work very hard in the next two weeks to defend its title. “Looking at the map of Africa, we are right at the bottom. Let’s turn Africa upside down and get ourselves on top once again at these championships,” he said.
