SA HAMMER ALGERIA 2-0

A SWEETLY-struck freekick from midfielder Steve Lekoelea set up South Africa for a 2-0 win over Algeria in the first round of the All Africa Games football tournament in Johannesburg on Thursday. Diminutive Lekoelea from the Orlando Pirates club hammered a 40-metre free kick past a gap in a defensive wall and wide of goalkeeper Foued Cheriet into the corner of the net after 68 minutes. The hosts sealed the three Group 1 points nine minutes later when a Simba Marumo lob rebounded off the post and Siyabonga Nomvete reacted quickest to stroke the ball home.
