MUSLIM WORKERS WIN COURT BATTLE

THE Labour Court in Johannesburg on Tuesday ruled in favour of 12 Muslim workers who were dismissed by Rainbow Chickens for refusing to work on Eid, an Islamic religious holiday. Handing down judgment, Judge Elna Revelas ordered that the workers be reinstated, SABC radio reported. She found that the workers, employed to slaughter chickens in the halaal way, were unfairly dismissed by Rainbow Chickens in Worcester on Eid Day in January last year.
