NIGERIANS BACK SA CUP BID

NIGERIAN Sports Minister Damishi Sango on Saturday came out in support of South Africa’s bid for the 2006 soccer World Cup. Sango said that Nigeria, who will host the 2003 All Africa Games, is “willing, able and ready to take over the baton from South Africa”, Sango reiterated his country’s backing for the soccer showpiece to be staged in South Africa. “On the strength of their performance at organising these Games, I wish to re-state Nigeria’s unflinching support for the South African bid for the 2006 Fifa World Cup for football. “Surely, it’s Africa’s turn and South Africa has all it takes to host the World come 2006,” said Sango.
