CHIEFS GET OFF SCOT-FREE

JOHANNESBURG soccer giants Kaizer Chiefs were found not guilty by a Premier Soccer League disciplinary comittee after failing to turn up for a Castle Premier League fixture against Hellenic at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg last Tuesday. Chiefs refused to play the match, saying that the fixture, which was initially scheduled to be played on September 18 and postponed to October 6, should have been played on the original date. The club was consequently summoned to a DC hearing to face charges of placing the league and its sponsors in disrepute. The ruling went to Chiefs, with the DC deciding that the club was given “too short notice” of the change of fixture.
