SPRINGBOK reserve flyhalf Jannie de Beer hops to meet Sale Sharks officials next week to thrash out his release from the English Premiership club.
De Beer wants to accept a contract with the Blue Bulls which will allow him to retain his Springbok place by playing Super 12 rugby in the new year.
But Sale are insistent that the player is contracted to them and have faxed both the Blue Bulls and SARFU to remind them of the fact.
“It’s an unfortunate situation but there’s nothing I can do,” said de Beer at the Springbok team hotel on Thursday.
“I want to play for the Springboks and the only way to do that is by playing in South Africa. “I’d like to help out Sale and I’m hoping to have a meeting with them next week.”
Centre Brendan Venter is in a similar position. He wants to join Western Province and the Stormers but is bound to London Irish by a contract.
Irish are keen to speak to Venter to resolve the situation. — MWP
