EGYPTIAN President Hosni Mubarak began another six years in office on Tuesday by sacking his prime minister, immediately making good on his swearing-in pledge to “inject new blood” into the government. The 71-year-old Mubarak, who won a fourth term with 94% of the vote in a referendum last month in which he was the only candidate, replaced Kamal al-Ganzuri with privatization minister Atef Ebeid just hours after taking the oath of office before a packed chamber of parliament. Ebeid, who has been at the forefront of the privatization program Mubarak launched in 1991, said he will submit the list of his new cabinet to Mubarak on Saturday.
