MINISTER’s DRIVER NEGLIGENT: COURT

THE official driver of Public Service and Administration Minister of Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi was found guilty of negligent driving in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Constable Johan Gert van Sevenster, (27) was reversing a BMW out of a parking bay in Raleigh Street, Yeoville, when he collided into a minibus taxi on August 26 last year. The accident happened shortly after he had dropped two of Fraser-Moleketi’s daughters off at a hairdressing salon. The driver of the taxi, Daniel Hlatswayo, claimed about R8000 in damage was caused to his vehicle as a result of the collision. Van Sevenster was fined R3000 or eight months imprisonment of which half was conditionally suspended for three years.
