CORPSE AND HEARSE HIJACKED

HIJACKERS carefully off-loaded the body of a woman on a stretcher outside the Elka Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday before racing off in the hearse they had just hijacked. Piet Swart, the owner of Koster Funeral Undertakers, said an employee of the undertakers, Joseph Kupu, was hijacked around 11.30am while taking the body from the Leratong Hospital to the undertakers in Koster. Three hijackers blocked the way of the Toyota Hi-Ace Executive hearse with a Mercedes Benz and forced Kupu into the boot of the car. Kupu was dumped in Diepkloof. Witnesses at the stadium told police that the men were extremely careful in their off-loading of the corpse. Police have not been able to recover the hearse.
