TWO men who escaped from jail with suspected heist kingpin Colin Chauke in December 1997 escaped again on Friday — this time from the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court. Poice said Sipho Nkuna and Lassie Sibiya, as well as a third man, Oupa Gareko, overpowered two policemen at the court cells on Friday afternoon. They robbed the policemen of their service firearms and their keys, then freed themselves. They fled unnoticed, shortly after appearing in court on a number of charges, including abduction and armed robbery. Nkuna, Sibiya and Chauke escaped with three others from Pretoria Local Prison in December 1997 after holding a prison warder hostage with a handgun. Nkuna and Sibiya were re-arrested about one year later, but Chauke evaded police until January this year, when he was apprehended in Nelspruit.
