EGYPT’S 71-year-old president, Hosni Mubarak, is flying to Paris on Monday for medical tests in the Val de Grace military hospital, Information Minister Safwat al-Sherif announced. “Mr. Mubarak will make a private visit of a few days for medical tests … following an ear infection he picked up last week,” the minister said. “During his visit Mr. Mubarak will hold talks with French officials,” Sherif added, speaking after a meeting between the president and new governors of Egypt’s 26 provinces appointed Sunday evening. The Egyptian information minister gave no more details on condition of the president who was slightly wounded in a knife attack September 6 during a visit to the northern town of Port Said.
