Joining the A-team

The Mail & Guardian is pleased to announce the following new appointments:

Tracy Spencer has been appointed managing editor of the M&G. Spencer has worked for the newspaper for more than four years and was formerly the chief sub-editor.

Khadija Magardie joins the M&G as features writer focusing on women and development issues. Magardie comes to the M&G from SABC television and radio. She has also freelanced for the Sowetan Woman.

Jubie Matlou comes to the M&G as a political reporter. Before he joined the newspaper, Matlou worked for the Department of Communications in the field of broadcasting policy and project management. In the early Nineties Matlou was a Weekly Mail trainee.

Julia Beffon returns to the M&G as the chief sub-editor after an absence of five years. In the interim she has worked in the sports department at Business Day, before becoming assistant editor of the now defunct Sportsday.

Paul Kirk joins the M&G as our KwaZulu- Natal correspondent. Prior to joining the newspaper, Kirk was a freelance writer and has also worked for the Sunday Tribune.
