MAHLANGU ORDERS NEW RESIDENCE

MPUMALANGA Premier Ndaweni Mahlangu has refused to move into his predecessor’s R2,5-million residence and has instead ordered the province to spend another R250000 sprucing up an alternative house. The renovations have, however, cost significantly more than originally budgeted, forcing Public Works officials to request ex-post-facto approval from the Tender Board. Former Premier Mathews Phosa’s official “mansion” meanwhile stands empty behind a series of security walls and electrified fences that cost the taxpayer over R1,2-million.
