CARROT THIEF KICKED TO DEATH

A PORT Elizabeth man has been kicked and punched to death for stealing a bag of carrots. The man, named only as Michael, was found dead on the pavement by ambulance personnel, police spokesman Johan Buys said. The murdered man was pursued by the owner of a vegetable stall and his son after he allegedly stole the carrots. The two men caught up with the thief, then kicked and beat him senseless before retrieving the carrots and heading off. They left the injured man lying on the pavement and he was dead by the time an ambulance arrived at the scene. Buys said the man had suffered severe head, neck and chest injuries. Police are investigating.
