MBEKI TO VISIT ST LUCIA

PRESIDENT Thabo Mbeki will visit the St Lucia wetlands on December 4, two days after the area is expected to be named as a world heritage site to protect and preserve it. Two days earlier, he will announce the world heritage decision at a news conference in Durban. On December 4, Mbeki will also report back to the public at St Lucia on the Presidential Jobs Summit held early this year. The world heritage site, stretching from St Lucia up to the Mozambican border, is a Presidential Lead Project, and Mbeki will discuss job creation in the area. The Department of Trade and Industry, through the Lubombo Spatial Development Initiative (LSDI), has already earmarked R400 million for development projects.
