THE price of petrol will fall from midnight on Wednesday, December 1, 1999. The department of mineral and energy affairs said in a statement that petrol will fall by 1 cent per litre to R2,86 for unleaded fuel (91 octane) and R2,90 for leaded fuel (93 octane). The difference between the price of petrol at the coast and on the reef remains 11 cents, thus the price of petrol at the coast is R2,75 and R2,79 for unleaded and leaded petrol respectively. The wholesale price of diesel, however, will rise by 2 cents to 241,75 cents on the reef and to 230,55 cents at the coast. The wholesale price of diesel and not the retail price is regulated.
