Lekota’s PA charged with child abuse

Bushy Molefe, Minister of Defence Mosiuoa Lekota’s personal assistant, will appear in the Pretoria Regional Court on Monday on charges of child abuse.

According to the police, Molefe is charged with molesting the 11-year-old daughter of another official in the Ministry of Defence. The charge was laid at the Pretoria West police station in October.

A source in the ministry says Molefe has agreed to pay for the girl’s psychological and medical bills. Police could only confirm that “according to the letter of agreement, Molefe is talking about paying, but nothing is confirmed”.

Said Colonel Phuso Tladi, Lekota’s representative: “The minister regards these allegations against Molefe in a very serious light. He has chosen not to renew Molefe’s contract as he was only on probation.” Tladi was unable to confirm or deny whether Molefe is still at work or whether he has been suspended from duty.
