K-PARK’s RIVERBEDS TO BE STUDIED

AN American foundation donated R15-million to the Kruger National Park on Thursday for a four-year ecological research project that will study riverbed corridors. “This programme will provide a thorough understanding of the structure and dynamics of riverbed corridors and the role they play in the savannah landscape,” said Wits Professor Kevin Rogers. The project starts in January. Director of the park, David Mabunda, said the project which starts in January will also boost the South African’s National Parks’ capacity to do research, as well as link science and management. The project is being funded by the Andrew Mellon Foundation, a non-profit corporation.
