ARRIVE Alive road safety campaign said on Monday that at least 52 road deaths in 33 accidents have been reported on South African roads since the start of the holidays on December 1. Figures indicate that the highest death toll was reported in the North West, where 23 people have died in road accidents. The Free State reported the lowest figure, with one road death so far. In KwaZulu-Natal, seven people were killed on the roads. Gauteng, Northern Province and Mpumalanga each reported four fatalities. Eastern and Western Cape reported four deaths and the Northern Cape five.
