CHAIRMAN of the National Convention of Arms Control Committee said on Wednesday that Armscor will no longer play a dual role in the arms industry. In terms of the White Paper on Defence Related Industries, it will act only as a procurement agency, rather than also as a vendor, which is inconsistent, according to the Business Report. Asmal said a new board, consisting of representatives of foreign affairs, defence, the trade and industry department and defence-related industries, will be formed in terms of the white paper to promote arms sales.
