OVER a thousand people attended a memorial service for Kaiser Chiefs founder Clarence Mlokoti at Vista University in Soweto on Tuesday. Mlokoti was killed during an attempted hijacking in Pimville, Soweto, on Wednesday last week. Speakers at the service challenged government and communities to do more to address crime. Isaac Mogase, Mayor of Greater Johannesburg, addressing the packed hall said it was time the government did something drastic about gun control. “We bury innocent citizens killed by guns almost every day and I do not know where this is heading to,” Mogase said. Kaiser Chiefs managing director Kaiser Motaung wept uncontrollably during his speech at the memorial service. He said Mlokoti’s flesh was gone but his spirit remained with them.
