HOLIDAYS CONFIRMED

THE department of home affairs on Friday confirmed that the four days from December 31, to January 3, will be public holidays. Spokesman Hennie Meyer said December 31 and January 2, were declared public holidays in a notice in the Government Gazette on May 7. “In terms of the Public Holidays Act, if a public holiday falls on a Sunday — the following Monday becomes a holiday as well,” Meyer said. Therefore January 3, becomes a holiday. “The same will apply for December 26, which falls on a Sunday this year,” he said.
