THE National Taxi Drivers Organisation (Natdo) said on Tuesday that government’s plans to replace minibuses with larger vehicles will cost 41000 taxi drivers their jobs. Natdo president Themba Mgabhi swarned of a go-slow tactic, whereby drivers will not exceed 60km/h on the freeway. His organisation suspended a similar tactic last December when government announced a reduced speed of 100km/h speed limit for taxis and buses. The government has announced that it plans to replace 126000 minibus taxis, currently loading between 10 and 15 passengers, with 85000 larger vehicles with a carrying capacity of between 18 and 35 seats.
