JOHANNESBURG police have arrested an undisclosed number of heist suspects after Monday’s cash-in-transit heist near Springs in which a security guard was killed and two others were seriosuly injured. Police spokesman captain Andy Pieke said investigations were quite sensitive, but he revealed that cash trunks, several stolen vehicles and a number of guns were recovered. The heist was carried out by a gang of 12 armed men on Monday afternoon. They attacked an armoured vehicle and escaped with 12 trunks of cash after a shootout. Pieke said on Tuesday police received a tipoff and went to Etwatwa, where they found three stolen vehicles, allegedly used by the robbers during the heist. Two cash trunks were found in the stolen vehicles.
