SENEGALESE President Abdou Diouf, of the Socialist Party, has won the first round of the presidential election with 41,33% of the vote, according to official, but provisional, figures released on Thursday. His main opposition rival Abdoulaye Wade garnered 30,97% of Sunday’s vote. According to the provisional figures, published by Dakar’s Court of Appeal, incumbent president Diouf received 690886 votes against 517642 for the liberal Wade.
