WESTERN province showed their good form this season by trouncing Free State 47-20 at Newlands in their Vodacom Cup clash. Province scored seven tries through right wing Gus Theron, prop Faan Rautenbach, centre De Wet Barry, scrumhalf Cassie Carstens, flank Mark Willard, lock Thys Stoltz and hooker Pieter Dixon. Province were leading 27-15 at half-time. Free State scored three tries — including a penalty try — with lock Gerrie Britz and left wing Ferdi Wesso crossing the line. The Western province front row was very impressive, while the Free State loose-trio showed outstanding form, particularly Attie Stander, who had a storming game.
