THE total turnover of institutions increased by 3,0% in fourth quarter 1999 to R362,62-billion from the fourth quarter 1998 level of R351,99-billion, according to figures released Tuesday by Statistics South Africa. However, Stats SA said fourth quarter 1999 turnover was 12,8% down on the R416,07-billion recorded in third quarter 1999. It said Gauteng contributed 44,7% to the total fourth quarter 1999 turnover of institutions, followed by KwaZulu-Natal (16,6%) and the Western Cape (14,4%).
