April 13 is World Book Day in South Africa. To mark the occasion, Exclusive Books invites all book-lovers to join them and Project Literacy in raising funds to help functionally illiterate adults (almost half the adult population of South Africa, it is believed) acquire reading skills.
World Book Day bookmarks are on sale at branches of the chain. For a donation of R5 or more, you can get one and thereby help fund Project Literacy – as well as get in line for a lucky draw the prize of which is R2000’s worth of books.
Drawing attention to the literacy drive, celebrities as well as school pupils and other community members will be involved in a read-aloud programme on April 13.
