THE entire 23-man crew of a Taiwanese fishing vessel and their dog reached South Africa late on Tuesday after being rescued by a Turkish ship after their boat sank in the south Atlantic Ocean. The fishermen and the dog, whose name means Prosperous Ocean in English, were deposited fit and well at the Cape Town harbour by their rescuers from the Turkish vessel, MV Rhami Pak. The Taiwanese vessel, Chwan-Yi No:1, sank after the engine room became flooded. The crew spent about 12 hours at sea in two life rafts tied together before they were rescued at around midnight on Sunday, about 1100km southwest of Cape Town.
