Deputy President Jacob Zuma, who is spearheading the government’s anti-AIDS drive, on Thursday came out against politicians being pressurised to publically declare their HIV status. Speaking after a memorial service for AIDS victims and sufferers in Cape Town, he said it was unfair to single out any single group of people to make such a disclosure. Zuma declined to say whether he would reveal his own HIV status. His remarks follow a challenge by PAC MP Patricia de Lille to be publically tested for HIV.
