THE Post Office said on Thursday that it is setting up a pilot project that aims to sell postage stamps over the internet. It is hoped the project will be up and running by the end of the year. All the consumer will need is a computer, a printer and an internet connection to buy and print stamps. The new ‘stamps’ will include a bar-code for security. US-based Kara Technology and Francotyp-Postalia, leaders in online postage and remote meter-setting technology, are also working on the project.
