THE South African men’s hockey team, barred from competing in the Sydney Olympics by the National Olympic Commission of South Africa will know on Monday whether they will be allowed to compete. Nocsa will meet with the SA Hockey Association to discuss whether the team will be allowed to go to the Games. The team has appealed to the International Olympic Commission to overturn Nocsa’s decision which ruled that they were not eligible to represent their country because they would not do well enough, despite being African champions and performing very well against strong opponents like Australia. Nocsa also feels that the side does not contain enough black players.
