Cami stalled in Moutse

The youth development club in Moutse, Mpumalanga, has developed a new literacy campaign consisting of a computer project on maths and science called Computer Aided Maths Instructions (Cami).

However, the project is stalled for a while for lack of computer equipment.

A pilot Cami project has been implemented in one of the local high schools, Dithamaga. Puncho Selahle of the Lehwelere Youth League views Cami as a project that will promote a culture of innovativeness and creativity among the youth, encouraging them to take charge of their lives and not to expect the government to do everything for them.

Morwapinye Monama, Dithamaga’s principal, says Cami has brought about a great difference in his school. “With this project, we hope to get control of classes of about 30 or more pupils because of its simple, superfast, friendly interface between user and computer.”

The Lehwelere Youth Leauge now wants to extend access to information technology to the youth of the area.
