WILLIAMS TO FACE DISCIPLINARY ACTION

PROTEAS seamer Henry Williams will face a United Cricket Board disciplinary hearing following his admission that he accepted an offer of $15000 from former skipper Hansie Cronje to bowl badly during a one-day international match against India at Nagpur. United Cricket Board chief Dr Ali Bacher said that the inquiry would be set up as soon as possible. Williams, unlike opening batsman Herschelle Gibbs, was not ruled out of the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka because he was not selected for the Proteas team to undertake the tour. Williams told the King Commission of inquiry into alleged match-fixing in cricket that Cronje offered him $15000 if his bowling spell cost more than 50 runs. Williams however broke down with an shoulder injury after completing less than two overs.
