POLICE TO OPPOSE BAIL IN DELMAS INCEST CASE

POLICE are expected to oppose bail when a man who allegedly had sex with his sister for 16 years, Jan Robert Fedder, 40, appears in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court. Fedder is charged with incest and has been in custody since he, his sister Heibrecht, 32, and their parents were arrested in Delmas on July 26. Fedder will be represented by a legal aid attorney. His sister is out on R2 000 bail. His mother, Elsina, 60, is out on R500 bail, and his father, Robert, 65, is out on a warning. His parents are charged with concealing the incest. They are due to appear in court again on September 22. Police are still waiting for the results of DNA tests done on the family. The siblings allegedly produced two sons, aged seven and 14, who are in a place of safety and are expected to testify during the trial. It is rumoured that the couple produced about 10 children, who died at childbirth or were miscarried. Police dug around the family’s home for the remains of babies, but nothing was found and further digging was called off on August 8. – African Eye News Service
