PAC HONOURS TEMPE KILLER

THE Pan Africanist Congress in the Western Cape is to hold a commemmoration service for Tempe military base killer Lieutenant Sibusiso Madubela, who last September shot dead eight white colleagues before he was killed. A PAC pamphlet advertising the event features a photograph of Madubela in uniform and concludes with the phrase: “One Oppressor, One Bullet”. PAC MP Patricia de Lille and Achmat Cassim, the founder of the radical anti-apartheid organisation Qibla, are billed as speakers, but De Lille says she is not aware of the commemoration and has not been consulted. The commemoration will be preceded by a march to the Harare police station to hand over a petition demanding the release of jailed Apla cadres. An interim report on the Tempe shooting found South Africa’s armed forces riddled with racism, starved of funds and full of demoralised soldiers.
