A PIETERSBURG brother and sister’s 20-year incestuous relationship – which produced two children – has been exposed after their younger brother spilled the beans after a blazing family row.
Police say the man is in his early 40s and his sister in her late 30s. They have been living together since 1980, and their incestuous relationship produced two daughters, aged 14 and four, who have been taken to a place of safety.
The pair, who could not be named to protect the identity of the children, were released on bail after their appearance in the Pietersburg Magistrate’s Court. They pleaded guilty to committing incest and their case was postponed to November 15 for sentencing.
Police were notified of the relationship after the younger brother had a heated argument with his older brother.
“It seems the argument spun out of control, and in a fit of rage the younger brother informed police that the husband and wife, as people knew them, were instead a brother and sister committing incest.”
The siblings were staying at a Ladanna, a suburb in Pietersburg.
Meanwhile, the four family members arrested earlier this year in a similar case of incest in Delmas are expected to appear in court again this week.
The Fedder family, including parents, son and sister, were arrested on July 26 after a close family relative leaked the information to police.
Robert Jan, 40, and his sister Heibrecht Fedder, 32, allegedly had an incestuous relationship for 16 years and produced children. Two boys, aged seven and 14, are in a place of safety and will give testimony during the trial.
Jan and Heibrecht are charged with incest, while their parents Elsina, 60, and Robert, 65, are charged with concealing incest.
All four are out on bail, except for the father, who was released due to his failing health condition. – African Eye News Service
