NYAMURAGIRA, the 3 050m volcano in the eastern Congo that erupted more than a month ago, has increased its output of molten lava. The volcano is still spewing thousands of tons of molten lava, risking a natural disaster to accompany the 32-month-old civil war that has destabilised the central African country. Vulcanologists now fear the nearby Nyarigongo volcano could soon also start erupting. In 1977, 2 000 people died when Nyiragongo erupted. – Reuters
