SA food group Tiger Brands said on Monday it was restructuring its agriculture and poultry business to focus on core activities – food and healthcare brands. Tiger said in a statement that the restructuring and unbundling would result in the separate listing of the agri-poultry interests under a new company, Astral Foods Ltd. Tiger said the agri-poultry interests that would comprise Astral Foods had a proforma turnover of R2.4bn in 2000. Tiger said it would continue to pursue opportunities to streamline the group structure to achieve additional administrative, finance and supply chain management savings. Astral Foods is involved in animal feeds and broiler genetic breeding. – Reuters
