A MEMBER of the Ugandan parliament was arrested on Tuesday for remarks she made in an interview with a Kenyan TV station intimating that Uganda was training dissidents to fight Rwanda. Winnie Byanyima, wife of presidential also-ran Kizza Besigye, was released on police bond after more than four hours of questioning. Byanyima told the Kenya Television Network (KTN) in Nairobi that Uganda was training Interahamwe militiamen – responsible for much of the genocide in Rwanda in 1994 – and arming three rebel groups in the DRC to fight the government. – AFP
