RECOVERY teams on Sunday pulled eight more bodies, two of them babies, out of the hull of a lake ferry that capsized and sank at Goma, DRC, bringing the death toll from the tragedy to 38. The bloated bodies, which had been under water for more than three days, were taken from the boat through a hole that was punched through the hull at water level. A crane had earlier lifted the front of the ferry several metres out of the water. Around 100 people were believed to have been on the 20-metre MV Musaka when it capsized and sank on Thursday at its moorings in Goma, on the northern shores of Lake Kivu. – AFP
