KABILA IMPLORES TANZANIANS TO INVEST

DEMOCRATIC Republic of Congo (DRC) President Joseph Kabila on Sunday urged the Tanzanian business community to invest in his country, saying that calm would soon return to the strife-torn country. “We are aware that the war in Congo is scaring off many of you. But, we are optimistic that the situation is going to normalise within the next three, six or nine months,” said Kabila when he addressed representatives from the Tanzanian business community in Dar Es Salaam. He lamented that the DRC had remained poor despite its vast natural resources. “Due to mismanagement during 37 years of dictatorship, the resources of Congo have been plundered and our country is today one of the most poorest on earth,” said Kabila. – AFP
