JACQUES NELL might be the first white member to serve on the Northern province executive of the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce (Nafcoc) if he is elected at the organisation’s annual provincial conference on Thursday. Nell, who served as president of the South African Chamber of Business (SACOB) in Pietersburg for two years until his term of office expired last year, is a former Nafcoc member. “Now Nafcoc wants me back and they believe I can be the first white man to serve on the executive,” said Nell. He said he was prepared to stand for any position on Nafcoc’s executive and would discuss the matter with provincial Nafcoc president, Tom Boya. Boya believes Nell will bring with him his vast experience to assist black businesspeople. Nell has already implemented numerous upliftment programmes in the region. On Freedom Day, President Thabo Mbeki lauded Nell for being a White patriot. – African Eye News Service
