FORMER Assistant Secretary of State for Africa, Chester Crocker has been tipped as US envoy to Sudan, where he could lead American efforts in resolving Sudan’s 30-year-old civil war, press reports said in New York on Thursday. During his trip to Africa last week, Secretary of State, Colin Powell had indicated that the US administration would engage Sudan and was already considering an appointment in that regard. – Pana
