BUSINESSES in Malawi are giving customers sweets instead of small change because they say there is a shortage of coins in the country. But the Reserve Bank of Malawi insists it has adequate stocks of all denominations of the kwacha and tambala currency and that it is unacceptable to use sweets as change. “The public, therefore, should insist on getting change in appropriate denominations,” said RBM governor Dr Elias Ngalande. – African Eye News Service
