The Arts & Culture Trust Awards have a new lease on life and the Mail & Guardian has climbed on board as a media sponsor. Our arts section, Friday, won the Media of the Year in Support of the Arts for 1999 to 2000 and now we are proud to be part of the team that will ensure the success of the awards in the year to come.
Because the M&G has national distribution, and because Friday concentrates on all forms of artistic expression, we are confident that this call for nominations will be read by all those involved in cultural production in South Africa.
To date, three out of five judges have been appointed. These are journalist and playwright John Matshikiza, newspaper arts editor Diane de Beer and National Arts Festival director Lynette Marais.
The list of finalists will first beannounced on September 14, on the www. Nedbankarts.co.za website, and the winners will be anounced at a function to be held on October 11. Details will be made available in Friday.
